Reformed Skeptic, New Superhero Shawn Smiling Slyly Because He Knows Secret Stuff
“Skeptical Shawn” joined Wealthy Affiliate in January 2017 because he wanted to learn how to make extra money online blogging.
He figured, “It’s free so why wouldn’t you join, right?”
Free training. Free tools. And the ability to earn while you learn.
So Shawns joins because he’s serious this time…
Serious about learning and doing whatever it takes to build a profitable affiliate marketing home business online – in between playing rounds of golf and goofing off with family and friends on weekends, of course – because his goal isn’t to build a full-time income really… just to earn a few hundreds dollars extra per month to supplement his retirement someday in the future so he can play even more golf with his goofball buddies!
Good on you, Shawn! Good on you!!
But sometimes…
Life finds a way to get in the way of living.
Here’s Shawn’s not-so-tragic, but true story with a happy ending.
Yes, Wealthy Affiliate Saved My House!
The rest of my family were out finishing the rest of their Christmas shopping and I decided to stay at home and work on my affiliate marketing websites.
I was the only one home and things were starting to go along nicely when I started to hear some noises from our outside screened-in porch, which is just off the kitchen.
I ignored the popping and hissing initially but then I finally decided to check to see if someone was in the porch because I didn’t know what the noises were.
They were pretty unusual, if you know what I mean.
As I opened the door to the screened-in porch I was met with a wave of heat and smoke, so much so that some of my hair was burnt. There was a fire in the screened-in porch and there were flames everywhere. click to continue…
Wow – it is amazing to me how many ‘coincidences’ happen like that throughout life if we only just pay attention and I really like where you said sometimes life just gets in the way of living.
Yeah, thanks Murphy (murphys’s law – what can go wrong, will go wrong)
Wow…Just Wow. It is amazing how sometimes things workout for the better for us and our families.
On a more positive note, I have been hearing a great deal of uplifting things about the wealthy affiliate platform. Is it true that you get hosting of up to 50 websites on the paid membership? and do they really provide 1 on 1 assistance with affiliate marketing questions? Sounds too good to be true, if I’m being totally honest.
Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks for this post, it really does provide some perspective on life.
Thanks
Right?! Coincidence? Perhaps… though who knows. Far as WA goes, I really don’t know. I do think you get commercial quality hosting for up to 50 domains and for this site I installed a premium plugin that require some special php module or something and I just passed it to support and they installed the module. First working day. So really fast. Good stuff.
What a coincidence though! You see I also started my online business with the training and community platform at Wealthy Affiliate! I had success to a point with my physical business, but now that my websites have started to gain site trust and traffic, I can see the end of the tunnel and the rest of my life in online business !
The training and website development there is unbelievable! Then you add the support of hundreds of thousands in the community and Wealthy Affiliate is gold!
Webinars, video lessons and tasks that are easy to follow make it almost effortless!
If you even think about getting stuck, there is help at every point! My honest and only regret is that I didn’t find it sooner!
The people in your audience that take your advice will be back to thank you!
Mike
That’s awesome, Mike. WA is pretty big. Much bigger than I realized at first glance. Over a million strong so I’m not surprised you found it valuable. We came from a “dirt-world” business as well and got online as a way to diversify.
Wow, you were so lucky nobody got hurt and you were all OK. And thank goodness you were at home to stop it before it spread any further!
I can personally vouch for Wealthy Affiliate – I joined up 18 months ago and can honestly say, it’s one of the best decision I’ve made. The community is second to none – full of excellent training, very detailed information and everybody is so helpful and friendly! The best part is, it’s free to join so I’d certainly encourage you to sign up 🙂
Louise – thankfully, this wasn’t me… even better, yes, the guy was okay. Wonder “side note” on the the ups and downs and craziness of building a business from home.
Hi Rob!
This is a really cool article! It’s certainly different from what I expected when I first read the title (my mind went to how making a little extra money through affiliate marketing helped to avoid a foreclosure or something of the like), but it’s also amazing how the choices we make often end up putting us in a place that serendipitously ends up being just where we needed to be in that moment.
Thanks for sharing!
Hey Tucker… thx for stopping by. Yeah, the title was definitely me playing around. But that is the magic of being able to work from home. LOTS of fun things (and not so fun things) to challenges us and keep things exciting…
Definitely an intriguing title! I’m glad to hear that you were able to save your house and that everyone is safe. While working on your websites allowed you to be present to stop catastrophe, can you share more about your experience with Wealthy Affiliate? Particularly, have you been able to monetize your websites to cover the cost of the membership?
Hey Justin… this is actually a real story shared by a real member within the WA community. Simply click the link, sign up FREE, and use the search function to search for “success” or “results” or something like that and you’ll find a TON of ordinary moms, pops, teens and even older guys like me are producing results. Not only promoting Wealthy Affiliate tools and training… but also as Amazon affiliates and things like that.
